Short Putts Drill - The 50 Putts Challenge

Precision Under Pressure

In golf, the ability to handle pressure is just as critical as technical skill—especially on the green, where matches are often won or lost. The 50 Consecutive Putts Challenge is designed to simulate the psychological tension of real competition while refining one of the most crucial aspects of your game: short putting.

This training drills consistency, focus, and mental resilience. As you progress through the repetitions, your mind starts to feel the weight of the goal—mirroring tournament-like conditions. The drill forces you to stay present, trust your routine, and let your instincts guide you, much like Tiger Woods often emphasized during high-stakes moments in his career.

Benefits of This Training

  • Mental Toughness: Builds the focus and calm needed for high-pressure putts.

  • Consistency: Reinforces muscle memory and a repeatable stroke.

  • Confidence: Completing 50 putts in a row reinforces self-belief on the greens.

  • Efficiency: Trains you to rely on instinct and reduce overthinking.

  • Adaptability: Challenges with various difficulty levels simulate different course conditions.

Add this drill to your regular routine and you'll find yourself calmer, sharper, and more confident the next time you're standing over a must-make short putt.

What do you improve with this exercise?

This exercise is great for increasing pressure during short putting practice. You'll notice that as you get closer to completing the last few putts, you'll start to feel sensations similar to what you experience on the golf course.
Do this drill without overthinking—just let your body react. Hit the putts consecutively at a quick pace so you don’t have time to overthink and get stressed.
It will also help you practice a large number of short putts.

Conclusion: Turn Pressure into Performance

The 50 Consecutive Putts Challenge is more than just a putting drill—it's a mental and physical conditioning exercise that prepares you for real tournament pressure. By integrating this routine into your regular practice, you're not only refining your stroke but also training your mind to stay composed under stress.

Every successful repetition strengthens your confidence and sharpens your focus, turning nerves into routine and hesitation into habit. Like Tiger Woods in his prime, you’ll learn to embrace the moment rather than fear it.

Master this drill, and you’ll step onto the green knowing that you’ve already made that putt—dozens of times before.
